Issue Days
Participants work together over the course of their first year of the program
exploring critical community issues and acquiring leadership skills. The
program begins with a two-day retreat in August, which includes an
overnight stay.
There are nine Issue Days, held once a month, beginning in September
and concluding in June. Each
Issue Day concentrates on a critical
community issue and an associated
leadership skill. Community leaders
and area experts lead the discussions as
class members explore relevant
local topics.

Field Trips
Class members participate in at
least six field trips that will expand their
learning experiences as well as
enhance their appreciation and
understanding of the community. Frequently
participants visit facilities they
might not otherwise be able to tour or
observe.
Shadowing Exercise
Through the daylong shadowing
component of the program, class
members have an opportunity to observe
firsthand the leadership style of a
civic, business or professional leader
of their choice. Many long-term
relationships have been established through
this exercise.
