INTRODUCTION LETTER

 

What is PAYL?

 

The 2012 PAYL Youth Leadership Academy is an accelerated five-week training program designed to equip participants, grades 9-12, with the basic skills to develop into better people and effective leaders who will eventually serve their communities.

 

Selection is open to all individuals regardless of gender, race, creed, or religion.

 

What characteristics are typical of PAYL participants?

 

Leadership potential. Team player. Passion for learning.  Positive attitude.

 

What is the application process?

 

Download an APPLICATION.  Fill out completely then fax to: (928) 776-9738 attn: Barb Bruce.

 

The PAYL organizing committee will review the application and contact the student’s parent or guardian to arrange a meet and greet.

 

What are the registration dates and tuition fees?

 

Early Registration runs from Monday, January 9 through February 15.  Tuition is $20.00. February 16 through the March 2 deadline, tuition is $25.00. Scholarships are available.

What are the program hours?

Retreat:  Saturday, March 31 - 10a-2p; Tuesday, April  3 - 6p-8p; Tuesday, April 10 - 6p-8p; Tuesday, April 17 - 6p-8p; Graduation: Tuesday, April 24, 6-8pm

Curriculum includes self-awareness exercises, team building/teamwork/ project planning, conflict resolution, listening skills development, public speaking and more. Refreshments will be provided thanks in part to sponsoring Prescott area restaurants.

Who’s running this year’s academy?

Prescott Area Leadership Board members, current class, and alumni. All are business professionals working in the region. Barb Bruce, Tim Burkeen, Kim Kapin, Beth Staub, and Dale Siegel.
